Sedimentary Rocks Review Articles

"Sedimentary rocks tell us what the atmosphere of the earth was like in the geological past. They can contain fossils telling us about the plants and animals, or showing the climate in an area. Especially important are sedimentary rocks, because they can contain drinking water or oil and gas to power our cars and heat our homes. The formation of a clastic sedimentary rock involves four basic processes: weathering (erosion) caused mainly by friction of the waves, transportation where the sediment is carried along by a current, deposition and compaction where the sediment is squashed together to form such a rock."
