Psoriasis Scholarly Peer Review Journal

Psoriasis is a skin disorder which causes skin cells to multiply up to ten times faster than normal. This makes the skin build up into wavy red patches covered with white scales. They can grow anywhere, but most appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. Psoriasis is considered a problem of the immune system. Triggers include infection, stress and cold. The most common symptom is a rash on the skin, but sometimes the rash involves nails or joints. The treatment aims to get rid of scales and stop skin cells from growing so fast. Psoriasis is caused, at least in part, by the immune system which mistakenly attacks healthy skin cells.
