 The small extra-chromosomal DNA molecule inside a cell that is actually separated from chromosomal DNA and can replicate autonomously known as Plasmid and however, plasmids are sometimes present in archaea and eukaryotic organisms they are mostly ordinarily found as small circular, double-stranded DNA molecules in bacteria. In nature, plasmids often carry genes that benefit the survival of the organism and confer selective advantage like antibiotic resistance. Plasmids are usually very small and contain only additional genes which will be useful in certain situations or conditions and While chromosomes are large and contain all the essential genetic information for living under normal conditions. Serving to drive the replication of recombinant DNA sequences within host organisms Artificial plasmids are widely used as vectors in molecular cloning. In the laboratory, plasmids could also be introduced into a cell via transformation. Plasmids are considered replicons, units of DNA capable of replicating autonomously within an appropriate host. However, plasmids, like viruses, aren't generally classified as life. Maybe of another species mostly through conjugation or Plasmids are transmitted from one bacterium to a different.The genetic material is one mechanism of horizontal gene transfer by this host-to-host transfer, and plasmids are considered a part of the mobilome. In which encase their genetic material during a protective protein coat called a capsid.
