Petroleum Exploration

Petroleum is a natural source, yellow to black substance found under the Earth's surface in geological formations, which is generally processed into different forms of fuels. Air, which is stored in geological rocks, is brought to the surface along with oil or gas during the Petroleum exploration. This water, known as Produced Water, has constituents that make discharging into the environment unsafe without adequate treatment. The situation is even more complicated in offshore locations since there is often limited room for the water treatment that is created. Generated water treatment will not only provide water for use but will also protect our environment from pollution. This paper has exhaustively examined the different ways of treating collected water based on its constituents, planned use of the effluent fluid, compliance with local environmental protection laws, required expertise and treatment costs.
