Otolaryngology may be a medicine which is concentrated on the ears, nose, and throat. An otolaryngologist is a doctor who treats issues in your ears, nose, or throat as well as some areas in your head and neck.An otolaryngologist is usually called an ear, nose, and throat doctor, or an ENT for brief .This medicine dates back to the 19th century, Doctors developed techniques and tools for examining and treating problems of the top and neck, eventually forming a medicine . According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology, it's the oldest medicine within the us .Otolaryngologists differ from many physicians therein they're qualified to perform many types of
surgery on the fragile and sophisticated
tissues of the top and neck. An otolaryngologist is prepared to start out practicing after completing up to fifteen years of school and post-graduate training. To receive certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology, individuals must first complete college, school of medicine , and a minimum of five years of specialty training. Some then pursue a one- or two-year fellowship for more training in a subspecialty area. All full-time faculty at Columbia have completed fellowship training in their areas of experience
