Obstetric Fistula Open Access Articles

Obstetric fistula is abnormal opening between a woman’s genital tract and her tract or rectum. the event of obstetric fistula is directly linked to at least one of the main causes of maternal mortality: obstructed labour. Women with obstetric fistula suffer constant incontinence, shame, social segregation and health problems. it's estimated that quite 2 million young women accept untreated obstetric fistula in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. This is preventable.   During her prolonged labor, the mother’s contractions continually push the baby’s head against her pelvis. Soft tissues caught between the baby’s head and her pelvic bone become compressed, restricting the traditional flow of blood. If untreated, the lady will uncontrollably leak urine, stool, or sometimes both, for the remainder of her life.
