Obstetric Fistula

Obstetric fistula is a pathological disorder in which a birth canal defect forms as a consequence of childbirth. Perhaps this is seen between vagina as well as the rectum, the ureter, or the bladder. It may result in incontinence of feces or urine. Abnormalities can include anxiety, fertility problems, and social alienation. Risk factors usually involve blocked labor, poor access to healthcare, malnutrition, and adolescent pregnancy. The fundamental cause is insufficient blood supply to the infected region over a long period of time. Diagnosis is usually based on signs which can be accompanied by the usage of blue methylene. Obstetric fistulas are almost completely preventable with proper use of the cesarean section. Treatment is usually performed by surgery. If diagnosed quickly, the use of a urinary catheter could help to heal.
