Neural Precursor Cells

Precursor neural cells by definition, a stem cell has the ability to renew itself indefinitely, and the ability to create cells that generate differentiated offspring. A neural stem cell produces multipotent progeny that can divide into neurons , astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes. Studies investigating exogenous cell transplantation have shown that neural stem and progenitor cells contribute to the most clinically successful outcomes.Stroke is one of the world's leading causes of long-term disability and mortality. A stem cell has the capacity to regenerate itself forever, and the ability to produce cells that generate differentiated offspring. In adult brain neural stem cells hold great promise for the development of neural repair strategies.
