Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Drug
A highly
infectious disease and cause for concern of public
health is Tuberculosis-TB. There are an estimated 8.6 million cases of TB and 1.3 million deaths due to to the disease in 2012. A majority of the cases where in children and HIV patients. The more important aspect of the case is the development of drug resistance. Multi drug resistant TB is due to the strain o Mycobacterium
tuberculosis that are resistant to isoniazid and rifampicin, which are the primary
drugs for treatment of tuberculosis. There are also finding of strains that are extensively drug resistant to other drug like fluoroquinolone, capreomycin and kanamycin. More recently studies have shown that there are stains of TB that are resistant to all antibiotics and are named totally drug resistant. In order to control and reduce the spread of
tuberculosis with such stains , early detection is of paramount importance.
