Maxillofacial Surgery Innovations
Maxillofacial surgeons are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of facial and skeletal disorders, including jaws and oral cavity. Contemporary medical and dental training helps
oral and maxillofacial surgeons to treat conditions that require experience in both fields. Which involve a number of common oral surgical complications (e.g. impacted teeth, dental implants), facial jerk and congenital distortion, facial trauma, oral cancer, salivary gland disease, temporomandibular joint disorders, and multiple benign pathologies (e.g., kysts and jaw tumours). Both general and specialist dental and medical practitioners refer patients to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. In many cases, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons work as part of multidisciplinary teams in collaboration with other specialists such as orthodontists, ear nose and throat surgeons, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, and oncologists to optimize the treatment of major mouth, face and jaw conditions and diseases.
