 Juvenile idiopathic arthritis,known as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, is the most common type of arthritis in children under 16. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis can cause swelling, persistent arthritis, and stiffness. Some children may experience symptoms for only a few months, while others suffer from symptoms for the rest of their lives. Certain types of juvenile idiopathic arthritis can cause severe complications, such as joint damage, growth problems, and ocular inflammation. The treatment focuses on  inflammation and controlling pain, preventing joint damage and improving function . Juvenile idiopathic arthritis can affect one or many joints. There are several different subtypes of juvenile idiopathic arthritis, but the main ones are systemic, oligo-particulate and multi-particulate.
