Fractures Impact Factor

A fracture i.e a break, usually in a bone. If the broken bone punctures the skin, it is called an open or complex fracture. Fractures usually occur because of falls, road accidents or sports injuries. Other factors are low bone density and osteoporosis that cause bone weakness. Some can cause stress fractures, which are minor cracks. Symptoms of a fracture are numbness and tingling, intense pain, bruising, swelling or tenderness around the injury, problems moving the limb, deformity - the limb seems out of place. You should get medical attention immediately in any fracture. An X-ray can identify if your bone is broken. You may need to wear a cast or brace. Sometimes you need surgery to insert pins, plates or screws to keep the bone in place.
