A flood risk assessment (FRA) is an assessment of the danger of flooding from all flooding mechanisms, the identification of flood mitigation measures and will provide advice on actions to be taken before and through a flood. Floods can occur due to a mix of sources of flooding, like high groundwater and an inadequate surface water system. The topography, hydrogeology and physical attributes of the present or proposed development have to be considered. A flood risk assessment should be an evaluation of the flood risk and therefore the consequences and impact and vulnerability. Non-professional flood risk assessments may be produced by members of the general public, Architects, environment assessors, or others who aren't specifically professionally qualified during this field.
