Experimental Genomics Online Journals
Genomics is defined because the study of genes and their functions, and related techniques. As to spot their combined influence on the expansion and development of the organism. it's the study of whole genomes of organisms and incorporates elements from genetics.
Genomics uses a mixture of recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid , DNA
sequencing methods, and
bioinformatics to sequence, assemble, and analyse the structure and performance of genomes. It differs from 'classical genetics' therein it considers an organism’s complement of hereditary material, instead of one
gene or one
gene product at a time. Moreover,
genomics focuses on interactions between loci and alleles within the
genome and other interactions like epistasis, pleiotropy and heterosis.
Genomics harnesses the supply of complete DNA sequences for entire organisms and was made possible by both the pioneering work of Sanger and therefore the newer next-generation
sequencing technology.
Genomics also involves the study of intragenomic processes like epistasis, heterosis and pleiotropy also because the interactions between loci and alleles within the genome. The fields of biology and
genetics are mainly concerned with the study of the role and performance of single genes, a serious topic in today’s biomedical research. against this ,
genomics doesn't involve single
gene research unless the aim is to know one gene’s effects in context of the whole genome.
