Electroretinography Scholarly Journals

 Electroretinography (ERG) is an eye test used to detect the electrical potential generated by light-sensitive eye cells, rods and cones and their connecting ganglion cells and retina function .It measures the electrical response of various retina cells, such as photoreceptors, inner retinal cells and ganglion cells.During this test electrode is placed on the cornea and on the skin near the eyes.  To test the retinal responses, electrodes are placed on the surface of the cornea (DTL silver/nylon fiber string or ERG Jet) or on the skin under the eye (Sensor Strips). Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) responses are measured using an EOG device mounted near the canthi with skin-contact electrodes. The patient's eyes are subject to uniform stimulus during a recording and the resulting signal is shown indicating the time-course of the amplitude (voltage) of the signal.
