Coastal Engineering

Coastal Engineering is an international coastal engineering and research medium. It integrates practical methods with current technical and theoretical approaches, such as statistical and computational modelling, measurements and experiments from laboratories and fields, and publishes fundamental studies. Coastal engineering is a structural engineering division devoted to unique coastal construction and coastal planning needs. The hydrodynamic impact of especially waves, tides, storm surges and tsunamis and (often) the harsh environment of salt seawater are typical challenges for the coastal engineer – as are the morphodynamic changes in coastal topography, caused both by the system's autonomous development and man-made changes. Coastal engineering areas of interest include the ocean coasts, seas, marginal seas, estuaries, and large lakes.
