Climate change, which is also called global warming, refers to the rise in average surface temperature of the Earth. An extraordinary scientific consensus is that climate change is mainly caused by the use of fossil fuels by humans, which release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the air. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere, which can have various effects on ecosystems, including sea level rise, severe weather events, and drought that make landscapes more vulnerable to forest fires. The main cause of climate change is the burning of fossil fuels, such as oil and coal, which emit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere - mainly carbon dioxide.Many human activities, such as agriculture and deforestation, also lead to greenhouse gas production and climate change. Even a small increase in the earth's temperature caused by climate change can have a severe effect.
