Climate-change- Impact Factor
Climate is the normal weather in a given area over a lengthier period of time. A explanation of a
climate includes
information on, e.g. the average temperature in different seasons, rainfall, and sunshine. Also a description of the (chance of) extremes is often involved.
Climate change is any methodical change in the long-term statistics of
climate variables such as temperature, rainfall, pressure, or wind sustained over several periods or longer.
Climate change can be due to natural external forcings (changes in solar emission or variations in the earth’s orbit, natural internal processes of the
climate system) or it can be human persuaded.
Paleoclimatology is the training of ancient climates. Since very few direct observations of
climate are available before the 19th century, paleoclimates are contingent from proxy variables that include non-biotic evidence such as sediments found in lake beds and ice cores, and biotic indication such as tree rings and coral.
