Chlorotriazine Herbicides

The herbicides of chlorotriazine have been used worldwide to control widespread weeds. These herbicides are considered to be carcinogenic and thus, their presence in surface and groundwater is a concern. The adsorption desorption behavior of chlorotriazin herbicides, namely simazine and atrazine, was investigated in the present study. Prep with, Two different types of agricultural soil were collected from Punjab, India (loam, 13.7% organic matter content) and soil B (clay-loam, 4.8% organic matter content). The study of adsorption desorption was performed by a batch balancing procedure. The data fit the Freundlich equation well. The Kf values of adsorption indicated that the simazine has more ability to adsorb soil than atrazine.
