Bacterial Degradation

Biodegradation is the dissolution of chemicals by bacteria or other biological methods. Although often combined, biodegradable is different from compost. Petroleum hydrocarbons are one of the most common environmental contaminants. Biological degradation can be defined as decay resulting from organisms such as fungi and bacteria that work in the presence of excess moisture and air for long periods of time.Biodegradation is defined as a reduction in the complexity of chemically catalyzed chemical compounds . Indeed, biodegradation is the process by which organic substances are broken down into smaller compounds by living microbial organisms. When biodegradation is complete, the process is called "mineralization". However, in many cases the term biodegradation is generally used to describe almost all biologically mediated changes in the substrate.
