Allergy Top Open Access Journals

An allergy is a response of the immune system to a foreign substance which is not typically harmful to your body. These foreign substances are called allergenic substances. They may include some food, pollen, or pet dander.  Food, insect stings, and medications are common causes of severe reactions. Their development is due to both genetic and environmental factors. The underlying mechanism involves immunoglobulin E antibodies (IgE), which are part of the body's immune system, binding to an allergen and then to a receptor on mast cells or basophiles where it triggers.
