Abstract
The Role of Inflammation in Cardiovascular Risk in Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Meta-Analysis of Long-Term Outcomes
Author(s): Sophia Green*Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are at an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), and chronic inflammation is thought to play a key role in this association. This meta-analysis consolidates data from long-term cohort studies to assess the impact of inflammatory markers on cardiovascular outcomes in RA. The results indicate that elevated levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) are significantly associated with an increased risk of CVD in RA patients, independent of traditional cardiovascular risk factors. These findings highlight the importance of managing inflammation in reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in RA.
