Water Stress Scholarly Open Access Journals

Plant growth is directly influenced by the plant water stress, and only indirectly by the soil water stress. Plant water stress depends on the relative levels of water absorption and water loss rather than on the availability of soil water alone, so it is not reasonable to conclude that a given degree of soil water stress would always be followed by an equal degree of water stress. In research on the effects of water supply on plant growth and plant processes, plant water stress should be measured directly, if the results are to be interpreted correctly. Water stress arises when water demand exceeds the amount available over a given period of time or when poor quality limits its use. Water stress causes fresh water resources to deteriorate in terms of quantity and quality.
