TonsilTonsil cancer can cause difficulty swallowing and a sensation that something is caught in your throat. Tonsil cancer is usually diagnosed late within the disease, when cancer has spread to nearby areas, like the tongue and therefore the lymph nodes.Treatment for tonsil cancer usually involves surgery to get rid of the cancer. In some cases radiotherapy and chemotherapy are also recommended. Carcinoma of the tonsil may be a sort of epithelial cell carcinoma. Other risk factors include poor maintenance of oral hygiene, a genetic predisposition resulting in inclination towards development of throat cancer, immunocompromised states (such as post solid-organ transplant), and chronic exposure to agents like asbestos and perchloroethylene in certain occupations, radiotherapy and dietary factors.
