 A supply chain is a network of facilities supplying raw materials, converting them into intermediate goods and then finished products, and eventually distributing the products to consumers through a distribution system that involves an inventory system (probably multi-echelon). It therefore includes procurement, production and distribution, with efficient inventory control as one main item. In order to fill orders efficiently, the linkages and interrelationships of all the key elements of the supply chain need to be understand.
