Spinal Anesthesia Peer-review Journals

It is a local anaesthesia which is injected I the spinal cord of the patient, basically in the subarachnoid space. This is accomplished by using a needle which can be up to 9 cm in length. Spinal anaesthesia sometimes is also referred to as spinal analgesia, spinal block and sub-arachnoid block. In case the patient is suffering from severe obesity the length of the needle needs to be increased. For those cases longer needles are already available in hospitals. irrespective of the anaesthetic agent (drug) used, the desired effect is to block the transmission of afferent nerve signals from peripheral nociceptors. Sensory signals from the site are blocked, results in removing the pain. The degree of anaesthesia depends on the amount and concentration of local anaesthetic used and the properties of the axon. Peer review refers to the work done during the screening of submitted manuscripts and funding applications.
