Shrimp Farming Online Journals

Shrimp farming has innovated from traditional, small-scale businesses in Southeast Asia into a global industry. Technological advances have led to flourish shrimp at ever higher densities, and brood stock is dispatched worldwide In the traditional farming system, the ponds are hoard with fry either assembled from the wild or concentrated through tidal water entering the ponds. Shrimp production is unpredictable and diverge from year to year due to the confidence on seasonal supply of fry from the wild. Pond yield is also flat (100–300 kg/ha/ year) because of disorganized curb of predators and competitors, full dependence on natural food and inadequate pond depth. Some enhancement of the traditional farming techniques have been made in the past years. Stocking density of shrimp ponds can be boosted through concentration of fry by pumping more tidal water into the pond. Pond depth is hiked to minimize variation of environmental parameters.
