Rheumatoid-Arthritis Journals

Rheumatoid arthritis ( RA) is a long-term autoimmune disorder which affects primarily the joints. Usually it causes moist, swollen, and painful joints. Pain and stiffness sometimes worsen after rest. The wrist and hands are most commonly involved, typically involving the same joints on both sides of the body. The disorder also has the ability to affect other areas of the body. This can result in low counts of red blood cells, inflammation around the lungs and heart inflammation. There may also be fever, and low energy. Symptoms frequently grow slowly over weeks to months. Treatment aims are to minimize discomfort, reduce inflammation, and enhance general functioning of a person. This can be achieved by juggling rest and exercise, using splints and braces, or using assistive devices. Pain medications, steroids, and NSAIDs are also used to cope with symptoms.
