Scientific journal is a regular publication intended to advance science further, typically by reporting on novel work. Hundreds of research journals are in circulation, and even more have been published in the past at various times. While some of the oldest journals publish reviews and research papers in a broad variety of scientific areas, most journals are highly specialized. Scientific journals contain peer-reviewed publications to ensure that papers follow the accuracy and scientific validity requirements of the journal. Publication of research results is an integral part of the scientific process. If they describe experiments or calculations, they must provide sufficient details that an independent investigator can repeat the experiment or calculation to verify the results.
