Pharmacoepidemiology Journals List

Pharmacepidemiology is the study of the use and effects of drugs in a large number of people. This provides an assessment of the possible beneficial effects of the drug in a population and possible side effects. It focuses on the clinical outcomes of patients with therapeutic agents using clinical epidemiological methods. Pharmacovigilance is part of this, including continuous monitoring of the population for side effects and safety problems. Pharmacoepidemiology uses a methodology developed in general epidemiology and can further develop it for the application of a methodology that is tailored to the needs of pharmacoepidemiology. There are also some areas that are entirely unique to pharmacoepidemiology, such as pharmacovigilance. Pharmacovigilance is a type of continuous monitoring of side effects and other aspects related to the safety of drugs that are already used in emerging markets. In practice, pharmacovigilance deals almost exclusively with spontaneous reporting systems where health professionals and others can report side effects to the central authority. The central body combines reports from many sources to create a more informative drug profile than might be based on reports from fewer medical professionals.
