Fabric Journal is a common method of the animal euthanasia. The common aim is to quickly separate the
spinal cord from the
brain so as to provide the animal with a fast and painless death. The research on this method has proved that does not consistently caoncuss the
brain and may not cause immediate insensibility.
Firm pressure is applied to the base of the skull, along with a sharp pinch and twisting of the thumb and the forefinger. At some time the tail is pulled towards backward. This severs the
spinal cord to the base of the
brain with the cervical spine area the upper third of the neck. According to the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) the various cervical dislocation is normally only to be conducted on small animals.
