Measles may be a childhood
infection caused by an epidemic . Once quite common
measles can now nearly always be prevented with a
vaccine. Also called rubeola,
measles are often serious and even fatal for little children. While death rates are falling worldwide as more children receive the
measles vaccine, the disease still kills quite 100,000 people a year, most under the age of 5. As a results of high
vaccination rates generally ,
measles hasn't been widespread within the us for quite a decade. The us had about 30 cases of
measles in 2004 but quite 600 cases in 2014. Most of those cases originated outside the country and occurred in people that were unvaccinated or who didn't know whether or not that they had been vaccinated.
Measles signs and symptoms appear around 10 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Signs and symptoms of
measles typically include: Fever Dry cough ,Runny nose, pharyngitis ,Inflamed eyes (conjunctivitis) ,Tiny white spots with bluish-white centers on a red background found inside the mouth on the inner lining of the cheek — also called Koplik's spots . A rash made from large, flat blotches that always flow into each other . The
infection occurs during a sequence of stages during a period of two to 3 weeks
