Marine-sponge-Impact Factor
Marine sponges are considered a great sources of raw materials for drug due to the great potential of their secondary byproducts. Most studies are conducted on the derived compounds of marine sponges to determine their pharmacological properties. These components are considered to have strong antiviral, anti bacterial, anti
fungal and anti
tumor properties. Though the mechanism by which these compounds act with human
pathogenesis is not clearly understood there are many studies being conducted to understand their medicinal value. The knowledge gained from these studies will help utilize these medicinal compound in medicines. The chemical substances from marine sponges have been found to have a carbon skeleton which effects human pathogenesis. The capability of these compounds to fight disease in a particular part of the body help in the targeted treatment of the disease.
