Lingual Tonsils Online Journals.
The round shaped lymphatic tissue in the posterior region of the throat is called lingual tonsils. These
tissues are stratified squamous epithelium, complex and nodular and act as protective layer. This tissue grows gradually till the age of seven then shrinks. The tonsils prevent against respiratory tract infections. Obese children have higher possibility of enlarged lingual tonsils and those who have undergone tonsillectomy have even higher possibility. Enlarged lingual tonsils is considered to be the cause of
obstructive sleep apnea in obese children. There are review
articles found in
journals which give the comprehensive summary of
information on the particular topic. They analyze the
research articles already published by researchers and academicians rather than the latest research findings. Such review
articles can be either systematic reviews or literature reviews and are considered a secondary form of article to be published in journals. Systematic reviews have specific criteria with which all already published research papers are found and the compare the finding of those papers. Literature reviews are a collection of best and most relevant previously published papers. A review article may or may not be peer reviewed. Online
journals on lingual tonsils may be of
open access and thus are a forum for medical practitioners to exhibit their latest finding or gain knowledge from already published articles. The peer review process of such
journals brings out high quality and scientific accurate
articles as several experts from the particular field have to review and accept the article before it is published in the journal.
