Hypoglycemia which is characterized by reduction of the concentration of plasma glucose to a degree that may cause symptoms or signs such as altered mental state and/or activation of the sympathetic nervous systems. This disorder usually results from anomalies in the processes involved in the
homeostasis of glucose. In
diabetes patients, the most common cause of
hypoglycemia is injection of an insulin shot and skipping a meal or overdosing insulin. Hypogylcemic
