Heart Transplantation Journals

A heart transplant, or a viscus transplant, may be a surgical transplant procedure performed on patients with end-stage illness|heart condition|cardiopathy|failure} or severe arteria coronaria disease once alternative medical or surgical treatments have unsuccessful. As of 2018, the foremost common procedure is to require a functioning heart, with or while not each lungs, from a recently deceased donor (brain death is that the standard) and implanting it into the patient. The patient's own heart is either removed and replaced with the donor heart (orthotopic procedure) or, abundant less usually, the recipient's pathologic heart is left in situ to support the donor heart (heterotopic, or "piggyback", transplant procedure).
