After cataracts worldwide, glaucoma is the second largest cause of blindness. It is a separate optic neuropathy, leading to typical nerve damage and visual field loss patterns often associated with excess fluid pressure in the eye. All age groups can be affected, and identified risk factors include increased intraocular pressure, ageing, family history, high myopia, hypertension and cardiovascular disease, headaches of migraine, peripheral vasospasms, and previous nerves. In the US and other industrialized countries it is an important blindness cause. Primary research papers are typically primarily journal papers. These can, however, also be reviews. The objectives and specifications of those papers are different. A new tool or approach is often defined in an article. Due to the specialty, carefully analysis and peer review of publications in scientific journals, journal repositories are the best place for searching for information on your species' previous work.
