Ectopic Pregnancies Open Access Journals

"A pregnancy in which the fertilized ovum implants outside the womb.  The egg which is fertilized can not survive outside the uterus. It can damage nearby organs if left to grow, and cause life-threatening blood loss. Symptoms include vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain.  Treatment is required to avoid complications. Medication may suffice in the early stages. Later stages call for surgery. Approximately 1 in 50 pregnancies in the U.S. is an ectopic pregnancy that can not lead to a kid. Between 6 and 16 per cent of pregnant women in the first trimester who go to an emergency department for bleeding, pain or both have an ectopic pregnancy. ... Women have a 15 per cent chance after the first one of another ectopic pregnancy."
