Drug Target Journals

The term "biological target" is often used in a drug study to describe the natural protein in the body whose activity is altered by a drug that causes a specific effect, which may be a desirable therapeutic effect or an adverse effect. In this context, the biological target is often referred to as a drug target. A biological purpose is anything within a living organism to which another entity is and / or is associated, resulting in a change in its behavior or function. Examples of common types of biological targets are proteins and nucleic acids. The definition depends on the context and can refer to the biological purpose of an active drug compound, the purpose of the hormone receptor, or other purpose of external stimulation. Biological targets are usually proteins such as ion channels, enzymes and receptors.
