Diabetic Foot Care Open Access
Diabetes mellitus or simply
diabetes is a group of disorder characterized by excess glucose levels in the blood. This condition is characterized by hyperglycaemia, a condition that is raised because of the carbohydrate , fat and protein metabolism defect that may be due to insulin production defects or insulin action, or the inability to use the reduced insulin, or all of the above reasons. This is a most horrifying disorder that in due course of time causes damage to the entire body. The most common and most affected body part is foot followed by eye, kidney etc. Diabetic foot is a most prevalent
diabetes problem. Fifteen per cent of people with
diabetes experience foot complications and this can ultimately lead to lower limb amputation. Ulceration, inflammation, or neuropathic osteroarthropathy are the commonest foot issue.
Diabetes mellitus is a multiple aetiology caused by a metabolic disorder.
