Climate is the long-term weather average, usually averaged over a 30 year period. Some widely determined meteorological variables include temperature , humidity , air pressure, wind , and precipitation. In a broader sense, climate is the state of the climate system components which includes the Earth's ocean and ice. A location's environment is influenced by its latitude, elevation, and altitude, as well as nearby bodies of water and its currents. More generally, a region's "climate" is the general state of the present-day climate system at that location. Climates, most commonly temperature and precipitation, can be classified according to the average and typical ranges of different variables. The Köppen climate classification was the most widely used rating system.
