Carbohydrate Quality Articles

The digestion system for carbohydrates begins with processing in the small digestive tract where monosaccharides are consumed into the circulation system. There are three hormones that regulate the glucose fixations: insulin, glucagon and epinephrine. If the blood glucose concentration is too high, the pancreas emit insulin. Insulin enables the movement of glucose into the cells, especially in the liver and muscles, although different organs are equally fit for glucose metabolization. In the liver and muscles, the process of glycogenesis (anabolism) converts a significant portion of the glucose into glycogen. At some later time when glucose levels are low, glycogen is put away in the liver and muscles until necessary.
