  Bacteriology is the branch of biology that deals with the  study of  morphology, ecology, genetics & biochemistry of bacteria as well as other aspects related to them and their relation to the medical industry.The prokaryotic organisms mainly include bacteria. Their length is only a few micrometers long. There are so many shapes that bacteria possess and they can be spheres or rods and spirals. They can be present at any p-lace ranging from soil, water, acidic springs, radioactive waste, etc. sometimes deep inside the earth.Researchers in this field not only get a better understanding of bacteria and their characteristics but also how to prevent or treat or manage diseases caused by these organisms.Bacteriology evolved from physicians needing to apply the germ theory to test the concerns relating to the spoilage of foods and wines in the 19th century. Identification and characterization of bacteria being associated to diseases led to advances in pathogenic bacteriology.This field has also allowed researchers to identify some of the beneficial effects of these organisms leading to their usage in various industries.Bacteriology played a major role in the development of the fields such as  molecular biology & genetics. The Bacteriology Field includes the Medical Bacteriology,Food and Water Bacteriology.
