Abstract

To study and compare pain, odema, bleeding of oral tissues.

Method

Were 10 systemically healthy patients (female,20-30 years of age) With bilateral gingival physiologic hyperpigmentation at maxillary and mandibular anterior labial gingiva, was depigmented with diode laser 808 nm either high power parameters of diode or low power parameters of diode laser, given questionnaire to evaluate procedures and followed up in 1,3,6 months.

Result

Measured pain with VAS( visual analogue scale), postoperative pain was mild at side of low power parameters, and moderate to severe at side of high power parameters side, no considerable swelling or hemorrhage and healing duration was significantly shorter in side treated with low power, the degree of pigmentation recurrence (mild to moderate) in the side of low power parameters, but in the side treated with high power (no pigmentation recurrence) based on Dummte_Gupta Oral Pigmentation Index(DOPI).
