Transgenic Plants Top Journals

Transgenic plants are plants which have modified their genomes through genetic engineering techniques either by adding a foreign gene or by removing some detrimental gene. A foreign gene introduced into a plant may be of another species, or even of a kingdom. The first transgenic plant was developed by injection into tobacco of the bacterial antibiotic resistance gene nptII.Since then, with the rapid development of plant molecular biology and genetic engineering technology, a wide variety of transgenic plants have been developed with important agronomic characteristics such as resistance to pests and drought tolerance, ranging from dicots to monocots suited to genetic modification. The main purpose in transgenic plant production is to produce crops with ideal traits, quality , and high yield.
