Thyroid gland may be a small gland, normally weighing but one ounce, located within the front of the neck. It is made from two halves, called lobes, that lie along the windpipe (trachea) and are joined together by a narrow band of thyroid tissue, referred to as the isthmus. The thyroid is situated slightly below your "Adams apple" or larynx. During development (inside the womb) the thyroid originates within the back of the tongue, but it normally migrates to the front of the neck before birth. Sometimes it fails to migrate properly and is found high within the neck or maybe within the back of the tongue (lingual thyroid). This is very rare. At other times it's going to migrate too far and finishes up within the chest (this is additionally rare). Thyroid may be a small butterfly-shaped gland found at the bottom of your neck, slightly below your Adam's apple. This gland makes hormone that travels in your blood to all or any parts of your body. The hormone controls your body's metabolism in some ways, including how briskly you burn calories and the way fast your heart beats.
