 If seizures occur during sleep they can cause insomnia-confusing awakenings. Patients suffering from epilepsy are often unaware of the seizures that occur as they sleep. They may suffer from daytime fatigue and problems of concentration for years, without ever knowing why. Sleep can have many different ways of affecting seizures. Changes in electric and hormonal activity of the brain occur during normal sleep-wake cycles. These changes may be related to why some people have more sleep seizures than others, and why not getting enough sleep can trigger seizures. Some people have seizures that resolve as they develop during childhood and it's hard to tell if their seizures are gone for good. ...
