Sinus Review Articles

Sinusitis is a complication of the common cold and is one of the most common conditions that are treated in general medical practices. Nasocomial sinus infections are an increasing frequent occurrence in the intensive care unit. The decision on how to treat a patient with sinusitis is dependent on history of the condition and depend lesser on results of a physical examination. It is the common reason that a general physician prescribes antibiotics to a patient. Sinusitis is caused by the viral infection of the upper respiratory tract with a very low percent of cases caused by bacterial sinusitis. A general practitioner will treat a majority of the cases with antibiotics but the condition is known to resolve itself even without antibiotics. The symptoms of bacterial sinusitis are similar to viral upper respiratory infections and are diagnosed definitively by clinical findings of a physical exam. Review articles summarize prior published research articles and do not include the latest finding of ongoing research. Review article are also called survey article or overview articles. Journals that specifically publish review articles are called review journals. Review article will bring out information of people researching the field, recent discoveries published, short comings of research done, debates on particular topics and ideas of the future of a particular research.
