Sewage Treatment Peer Review Journal

Sewage treatment plant process is similar to how a Septic Tank works, but additional processes are provided by mechanical components to help break down the solids to produce a cleaner, more environmentally friendly effluent. Physical, chemical and biological methodsare used to extract pollutants and to create treated wastewater (or effluent) that is healthy enough for release into the setting. A sewage treatment by-product is a semi-solid waste, or slurry, known as sewage sludge. Before being suitable for disposal or land application the sludge must undergo further treatment. Treatment of wastewater typically requires three phases, called primary, secondary and tertiary treatment.
