Rain Gauge Scholarly Peer-review Journal

A rain gauge is a meteorological instrument for measuring precipitation that precipitates in a period of time determined per unit of area. The instrument consists of a collection container which is placed in an open area. The measuring tube measures up to a hundredth of an inch. A standard rain gauge has of a funnel which leads to a measuring tube. The area of   the circular top of the funnel is 10 times larger than the cross section of the tube, so that one inch of water falling on the funnel rises to 10 inches in the tube.
